Eighteenth Century English Delftware Charger; Probably Bristol, c.1740.

This semi psychedelic squirrel design is a derivative of the Chinese ‘squirrel and vine’ pattern. An invention of the English delftware decorators, a design that is attributed to both London and Bristol factories.

The colour way of pale teal and lemon yellow is an unusual note and might be a serendipitous result from being fired in the kiln.
