This early English tin glazed plate seems to follow trend with the so called ‘Farm yard’ series.
A lively sponged foliage, fired to a deep manganese, frames a cobalt bird swooping above the ever present country fence, central to this charming vignette.
One feels a Bristol attribution appropriate - but perhaps an early Lambeth manufacture could be proved - Nevertheless, a scarce and wonderful design.
