Medieval English Pottery Jug; Cheam, Fourteenth Century.

This scarce medieval pot, is a type that belongs to a group known as Cheam ware, on account of its geographical origins.

Excavations of kilns in the English village of Cheam, Surrey, have yielded large numbers of jugs of this form, which are categorically attributed with a fourteenth to fifteenth century date by archaeological pundits.

The glaze and colour of this example is particularly pleasing - which seems to magically capture all the tones of a British frog.
