Seventeenth Century Ming Porcelain Vase turned Tea-Pot with Later Handle and Spout c.1800.
Within the cult of the ‘make do’ repair, this example is next level - The vase itself can be attributed to the transitional / early Kangxi period ; decorated with a lattice relief design and painted with flourishes of flora in blue.
The decision to turn the vase into a tea-pot at some point at the turn of the nineteenth century is eccentric to say the least ; the choice of oversized handle and silver spout is inspired, which would of no doubt got one noticed in Georgian society.
