Medieval; Cheam Ware Jug; English, Fourteenth Century.

This elegant and yet seemingly abstract natural structure is the pleasing form of a fragmentary Cheam ware medieval jug.

The so called biconical form with its serendipitous splashes of green glaze is typical of the fourteenth century white wares manufactured in the town of Cheam, Surrey.

Henry Moore the great modern sculptor is known to of collected such Medieval pots; one can’t help but think he would take note of this wonderful piece.
